I am always trying to push the limits in musical expression.. I love experimenting with sounds and ideas.. well.. here is my idea of EDM gone Crazy.. By all means please leave a comment.. Oh yeah.. some of these are FREE to download!!!
This experience is what I call Synthetic Soul (The White Lable Chronicles)… I combined variations of house, funk(of couse), dub-step, rock/metal, and trap on top of samples, and beats… Of course there is the HUMAN element to the music.. didn’t wanna have it all the way mechanical so I played all the instruments too.
My philosophy is “humanity should dictate the technology not the other way around” hence the blending of the sounds with instruments..

As an indie artist, I must admit, I get discouraged from time to time with this music thing. As an indie artist I realize that I am in business for myself. Not only do I have to think of the music, but the avenues of how to get it to the public as efficiently as possible! This is NOT a complaint. This IS the lifestyle I chose. This choice of lifestyle has to be balanced with day job/home responsibilities with and the dream life I once had and want again.
As an artist, I am always asking this question… Am I making an impact with my music? I got an email that had to make me re-evaluate what is important about my gift of song. Of course I want to make money from my craft and to be able to support my family and all that other stuff, but DAG!!! I WANT IT NOW(in my Barucca Salts voice from Willy Wonka ) .. Well… Just when I was starting to accept the reality of having to deal with my day job for the rest of my life, I get THIS —->
“Hey Eriq, I almost pulled over my car earlier today … but wasn’t in a good place. Was listening to your new music in the car and it hit me somewhere deep inside. Hard to explain. It was very moving. You have incredible talent. You need to be touring! Just wanted you to know” – Julie White
She purchased the project XOXO (Hugs & Kisses) and told me what she thought of it. These words are so empowering and the very thing that I needed to hear. Some folk might say that this is all about my ego or my insecurity as an artist. I think from an artists’ perspective, the ones who put it all on the line are the most vulnerable and at risk of being rejected and set aside.. (and even booed) .. To those who are quick to call artists “narcissistic” “egotistic” “insecure” then let me ask you.. Do YOU enjoy rejection for something you are passionate about? Of course you don’t .. NO ONE DOES! We have enough artists “playing it safe”.. which is why I think we as a society have an addiction to mediocrity – but that’s another blog..
This is merely a “thank-you” note to a person who valued what I did by purchasing it and making it a part of her life.. which what music is for in the first place.. right???
